61 People on Board Confirmed Dead

Cause of the Crash Under Investigation

A passenger plane carrying 61 people crashed on Friday outside São Paulo, Brazil. The plane, Voepass Linhas Aéreas Flight 2283, was flying a scheduled two-hour flight from Manaus to São Paulo when it crashed in the city of Vinhedo, about 60 kilometers (37 miles) from São Paulo.

All 61 people aboard the plane were killed in the crash. The cause of the crash is under investigation, but Brazilian authorities are working to piece together what happened.

The crash is the deadliest aviation accident in Brazil since 2007, when a TAM Airlines plane crashed in São Paulo, killing 199 people.
