WEB Formula 1 Grand Prix of San Marino 2005

Imola, Italy - 24 April 2005

The 2005 Imola Formula 1 Grand Prix, officially known as the WEB Formula 1 Gran Premio Fosters di San Marino 2005, was a Formula One motor race held at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola, Italy on 24 April 2005.

A Race to Remember

The race was the fourth round of the 2005 Formula One season and was held on the variant of the Imola circuit that was used from 1995 to 2005. The race was won by Fernando Alonso for the Renault team, his first victory of the season and the first victory for a Spanish driver in Formula One.

The race was notable for the serious accident involving Ralf Schumacher of the Toyota team on lap 10. Schumacher's car left the track at high speed and crashed into a concrete wall, causing a suspension failure. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries, but thankfully made a full recovery.

The race was also overshadowed by the death of Pope John Paul II, who passed away on the eve of the race. A minute's silence was held before the start of the race in his memory.

In conclusion, the 2005 Imola Formula 1 Grand Prix was a race of high drama and emotion. From the tragic accident involving Ralf Schumacher to the triumph of Fernando Alonso, the race will live long in the memory of Formula One fans.
